Antigua abloom

I spent my first full day in Guatemala exploring the beautiful little town of La Antigua. It is the most picturesque colonial town filled with stunning architecture and cobbled streets, but above all, it is filled with the most glorious blooms, some familiar, like bougainvillea in vibrant colours, and some strange and beautiful, like the Clock Vine flower.

Thunbergia mysorensis, the Clock Vine flower.

Blooms burst forth from every nook and cranny imaginable, tumble over walls with no space left unadorned – even the rooftops are awash with stunning floral displays.
